3/5
Tron (1982) Abbie Bernstein Though dated, the CGI looks striking, but becomes a bit monotonous after awhile: in the computer world, nearly everything is in shades of washed-out bluish gray, including character faces.

3/5
Swordfish (2001) Abbie Bernstein Swordfish is made with demonstrable skill and enthusiasm, and it's so improbable in its particulars that most viewers in the mood to do so will be able to kick back and enjoy it as shoot-'em-up entertainment.

Star Trek (2009) Daniel Hirshleifer J.J. Abrams has truly performed a miraculous hat trick. To turn such a thoroughly beaten down franchise into something interesting and new is no mean feat.

17 Again (2009) Mike Flacy Sometimes you don't need more than a little escapism on a Saturday night. Happily, 17 Again provides just that.

2/5
X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) Daniel Hirshleifer Wolverine has at least two films wedged into its meager 107 minutes, and the result is that the picture never gets a chance to breathe.

Observe and Report (2009) Daniel Hirshleifer While flawed, Observe and Report is clearly part of Hill's singular vision, the capper to a trilogy of projects that push mediocrity's self delusions to the forefront.

Monsters vs. Aliens (2009) Daniel Hirshleifer There's plenty to enjoy in Monsters vs. Aliens, whether it be the animation or the perfect melding of talents that make up Susan's character.

Knowing (2009) Daniel Hirshleifer "You'd never know it from the ads, but Knowing is one of the better films released so far in 2009."

I Love You, Man (2009) Daniel Hirshleifer "The movie retains a pretty happy-go-lucky atmosphere, at least until the end of the second act where the conflict rears its ugly head."

Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009) Mike Flacy "Director PJ Hogan gives us a fluffy pink world decked out with cute comic bits and outrageous outfits. This is not enough, however, to fill it."

2/5
Race to Witch Mountain (2009) Daniel Hirshleifer "By the time Race To Witch Mountain winds down to its inevitable happy ending, I can't imagine any audience member actually caring about the story."

4.5/5
Coraline (2009) Daniel Hirshleifer "Coraline is an impressive feat of stop-motion animation that easily stands shoulder to shoulder with the best examples of the format."

Watchmen (2009) Mike Flacy "Snyder clearly is a huge fan of the original work, and it shows in every detail-packed frame."
