Low-level bureaucrat Sam Lowry (Jonathan Pryce) escapes the monotony of his day-to-day life through a recurring daydream of himself as a virtuous hero saving a beautiful damsel. Investigating a case that led to the wrongful arrest and eventual death of an innocent man instead of wanted terrorist Harry Tuttle (Robert De Niro), he meets the woman from his daydream (Kim Greist), and in trying to help her gets caught in a web of mistaken identities, mindless bureaucracy and lies.

This has got to be Terry Gilliam's undisputed masterpiece. This dark comedy set in an authoritarian future perfectly parodies the absurdism of bureaucracy. It's dreamlike qualities make it a wonderful and surreal experience

It's 2025 and you're watching this film wondering how Terry Gilliam knew that in 40 years we would all be subject to the Ministry of Information in our daily lives. While still a comedy and the spectacular cinematic direction, the subtle undertones of the script and plot make you wonder how we let society get to this point.

Well, certainly groundbreaking work by Terry Gilliam, very well directed and brought to screen. Weird and wonderful indeed. Amazing cast all excels in character. Very original, somewhat strange, storyline. Lots of intrigue, drama, action, sharp wit and entertainment. Stunning visuals and cinematography. Very memorable movie, highly recommended
