A magical board game unleashes a world of adventure on siblings Peter and Judy Shepherd. While exploring an old mansion, the youngsters find a curious, jungle-themed game called Jumanji in the attic. When they start playing, they free Alan Parrish, who's been stuck in the game's inner world for decades. If they win Jumanji, the kids can free Alan for good, but that means braving giant bugs, ill-mannered monkeys and even stampeding rhinos!

Critics Consensus

A feast for the eyes with a somewhat malnourished plot, Jumanji is an underachieving adventure that still offers a decent amount of fun for the whole family.

Well, the special effects are impressive but what wins you here is a theme-park ride, twisting and turning, making you laugh one minutes and duck the next. Go to Full Review

This is an entertainment in the broad Hollywood tradition of Capra and Spielberg, with a boisterous touch of Peter Pan in that the stern father figure and the scary villain are both played by the same actor. Go to Full Review

The year is 2017, I’m in kindergarten, and I watched this film for the first time and this was my thing for a long time, I rented out the book so many times, I got multiple variations of the Jumanji board game, I also got the video game for the Nintendo switch and I got the new ones on Blu-ray and I got this one on DVD, and I even got the entire cartoon series on dvd at Menards, now I got the history in, let me get on with the review, this film isn’t is absolute peak. I don’t understand why it get so much hate and now re-watching it I like it even more than I did, I got a lot of nostalgia rewatching this, Robin Williams was definitely the best part about this film, like any movie that he’s in is great, even if it’s mid, the film’s he’s in are masterpieces, go watch it. I definitely definitely definitely recommend you to watch this, it’s not as bad as everybody says it is. 9.7/10. See more Mitchell S @Mitchstur May 5 The effects are horribly dated, and they take a little too long to get to the game. But there are some redeeming factors, especially the payoff.
