The evil wizard Rasputin puts a hex on the royal Romanovs and young Anastasia disappears when their palace is overrun. Years later, the Grand Duchess offers a reward for Anastasia's return. Two scheming Russians, planning to pawn off a phony, hold auditions and choose an orphan girl with a remarkable resemblance to the missing princess. It took Don Bluth and Gary Goldman several movies to get their groove back throughout the 1990s, but with this film...they created one of the most memorable animated musicals of its decade.

To be honest is not a bad film but its not a classic either, is a good animation that stands the test of time, the soundtrack is interesting worthy to hear. Overall, is an average animation of the 90's decade.

Anastasia is a beautifully crafted animated film that feels like it belongs firmly in the Disney Renaissance, even though it wasn’t originally made by Disney. Now that the character exists under the Disney umbrella, it feels natural to want her fully embraced as an official princess, especially given how strong her story already is. The screenplay is warm, romantic, and adventurous, following Anastasia as she searches for her identity and uncovers who she truly is after years of loss. The emotional journey is easy to connect with and never feels forced. The voice cast is excellent. Meg Ryan brings sincerity and charm to Anastasia, while John Cusack gives Dimitri heart and humor. Christopher Lloyd is a memorable villain, Hank Azaria adds playful comedy, and Angela Lansbury provides elegance and emotional depth. The music is catchy, heartfelt, and timeless. It remains a charming classic.

Don Bluth and Gary Goldman’s attempts to rival Disney were hit and miss, but if it wasn’t for the folks at Fox we likely wouldn’t have gotten this film. Often regarded as a Disney clone, "Anastasia" delivers a compelling story and has a delightful cast of characters.
