Loretta "Ry" Ryan (Neve Campbell) is an aspiring ballerina performing with the renowned Joffrey Ballet in Chicago. As she struggles with the demands of being a dancer, she also begins a relationship with the handsome Josh (James Franco), who isn't involved in that insular world. The drama looks at the lives of others in the company, including the passionate artistic director, Alberto Antonelli (Malcolm McDowell), and features many actual Joffrey dancers.

Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são fracas, a história é fraca, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom

It’s a beautiful homage to ballet; but, seriously, what was the point of this film? Brava to Campbell and the dance company, but jeers to Altman and his writers for forgetting to write a PLOT. Unsung heroes: the poor bastards who had to try to market this film.

Altman's signature fly-on-the-wall modus operandi on the ins and outs of a ballet company makes great infotainment and the purposeless story is just a pathetic backdrop.
