When Tim Lake (Domhnall Gleeson) is 21, his father (Bill Nighy) tells him a secret: The men in their family can travel through time. Although he can't change history, Tim resolves to improve his life by getting a girlfriend. He meets Mary (Rachel McAdams), falls in love and finally wins her heart via time-travel and a little cunning. However, as his unusual life progresses, Tim finds that his special ability can't shield him and those he loves from the problems of ordinary life.

Sure, some of it is stereotypical but the second half of the film was devastating. The script turns from romantic comedy to a father-son relationship that is charming, yet heartbreaking at the same time.

My favorite movie. I watch it almost every year and it just helps you remember to put life into perspective of truly enjoying even the small moments and cherish your relationships familial, romantic, and platonic. I cry every time I watch it without fail. Cinematography is great, the characters are well written, the casting is spot on, and it’s both a heartwarming and heartbreaking story.

"i just try to live every day as if I've deliberately come back to this one day, to enjoy it, as if it was the full final day of my extraordinary, ordinary life." i'm genuinely starting to think that it's impossible for me to get through this without bawling my eyes out. 'About Time' is easily one of my all time favorite films. gleeson and mcadams are both great and work off each other so well. the concept for the film is genius and is utilized so well in order to explore the importance of life and truly living it to its fullest. tim is a great protagonist and gleeson does such a great job at making him so relatable. that's actually the thing that this film does the best. the whole film just feels so personal and relatable. curtis just crafted something unbelievable here. a film the really makes you want to live your life more then anything.
