The idea is an intriguing one and a good example of ‘interesting because it is currently relevant to daily society’ but it left out most of what would have maintained intrigue and interest. This is an idea that really might be better explored as a television series for a major network. A lot more could have been done to pick up the pace and increase the tension and consequences to take it a level higher, rather than unintersting dialogue and character development, but it didn’t so it is what it is and left hovering around the bar... because no one really wants to put it above the bar and it is interesting enough to not be slammed definitively below the bar with disappointment and authority. Why are professional writers coming up with endings that are like when I was five and ended every story with "and then everyone died in a nuclear war" because I couldn't think of a good way to conclude it? From the premise alone, it seems poised to become an intense, gripping thriller, but it repeatedly pulls back just as it should be escalating. Lili Reinhardt gives a technically solid performance, bringing presence and effort to the screen. However, the issue isn’t her acting but the character itself, which feels underwritten and emotionally incomplete, leaving her arc less impactful than it should be. The screenplay struggles with cohesion. Several moments feel disconnected or underdeveloped, causing the narrative to lose momentum and making it harder to stay invested as the film progresses. Direction also plays a role in the disconnect. Instead of leaning into the darker, more thrilling path the setup suggests, the film veers toward self-discovery, a choice that ultimately weakens the tension. While there are flashes of creativity and ambition, they’re too inconsistent!
