Though it's far less fratty than its bare-bones marketing suggests, it has a retrograde campus-comedy vibe, right down to the Orion Pictures logo that resurfaces in front of the movie.

There have been a few of these movies released during the last few decades, but few have managed to transcend pushover ideas with the degree of wit, lively dumb guy humor, and encouraging timing found in "Balls Out."

The fact that I’ve read reviews claiming this to be a smart and witty commentary on the underdog story makes me question society. I like dumb humor and all, but this is catastrophically bad. It tries too hard to be a mockery of itself. That can work if there are clever lines or funny situations. This has neither. I don’t get it. I also don’t get how the Paul brothers became famous. It must be the same audience.
