Viewers over 50 will likely find the humor hits the mark,..some jokes are deliberately dumb, others land with the kind of lowbrow absurdity that still elicits genuine laughs. Objectively, Ball Up is stronger and funnier than the last three mainstream comedies that received significantly higher critical and audience scores. Unfortunately, today's hyper-sensitive and politically correct climate prevents many people from giving an honest assessment. Fear of being labeled racist or bigoted often overrides straightforward judgment. I originally considered rating this film 3 or 4 stars. However, after reflecting on the current state of comedy and the timid reception it’s receiving, I’ve decided to go with 5 stars. It’s time for audiences to grow a backbone(or balls) and rate movies based on actual entertainment value rather than what’s socially acceptable. I find most of Wahlberg comedy movies to be decently funny, this one is an exception. "Haha it's a condom that covers your balls" is the entire punchline. Shouldn't be categorized under comedy. See more Shane B @RT34836577 May 17 for some reason, i’m sure we all know why……comedies have been pussyfooting around good jokes in fear of offending people, this movie and the new anaconda movie are prime examples of new age garbage comedys with guys who you’ve seen be way funnier in the glory days when actual jokes were aloud. That being said this movie sucked was let down once again. Think i’ll go back to A24 & other new horror films cuz atleast they can be shocking and fucked up still without being in fear of getting canceled by the "woke" See more Serena C. @scortina May 16 Wtf did I just watch?
