Found video footage tells the tale of three film students (Heather Donahue, Joshua Leonard, Michael C. Williams) who've traveled to a small town to collect documentary footage about the Blair Witch, a legendary local murderer. Over the course of several days, the students interview townspeople and gather clues to support the tale's veracity. The poor footage quality, total amateur filming style and distant audio sound coupled with the setting of the New England woods, holds up well. While it lacks the polish and delivery that a true filmmaker’s film would deliver, it’s supposed to.

This is an interesting movie. It started the "found footage" trend and it's easy to tell why. This movie is so eerie and unsettling to watch. Even though you know it's not real, it feels so real that it's scary and makes you want to keep watching. The acting is absolutely amazing. So much of the movie feels real because the acting is good and the actors were placed in a similar situation as the characters in the movie. The absence of score or music also makes me it feel more real. But the sequences shot at night were the scariest scenes. The scene where they are in the house, and you realize what's happening is so eerie. It's all about what you don't see than what you do. That's where I think the movie really shines. Letting your imagination picture what happened or didn't happen. Unfortunately, if you don't have an imagination, you might not get as much enjoyment out of the creepy scenes. Overall, scary, eerie, unsettling, and creepy, every horror fan should give this movie a
