Critics Consensus

With help from a strong performance by Leonardo DiCaprio as real-life wunderkind con artist Frank Abagnale, Steven Spielberg crafts a film that's stylish, breezily entertaining, and surprisingly sweet.

This is the director's most likeable film in ages, even if it's insubstantial, overlong and, frankly, a touch redundant. Go to Full Review

It remains as delightfully entertaining as ever after 23 years, utilizing Jeff Nathanson's marvelous screenplay and a trio of wonderful performances from DiCaprio, Hanks, and Walken to tell a wild & outlandish tale that hasn't lost any of its charm. Go to Full Review

From its snazzy opening credits -- the type normally found in frothy romantic comedies of the early 1960s -- to John Williams’ infectious score, this Steven Spielberg hit feels like nothing so much as pure old-fashioned escapism. Go to Full Review

Brad G. @bgreenland 19h One of my absolute favorites! The story is fantastic and the acting amazing. You can watch it again and again and still be as entertained See more emilio R @RT85101519 22h Muchos remarcan la gran capacidad de Spielberg con la cámara, pero quisiera resaltar los buenos diálogos. See more Tyler S @tylerking24 May 18 Really wasn't expecting a whole lot, but man so much was happening, but in a good way! The more it went on, the more it shocked me that this stuff actually happened. See more ARG VIROX T @AVGVSTVS May 17 An excellent film where every detail seems to have been carefully considered. The story is captivating and beautiful. Despite everything the character goes through and does, his only dream isn't wealth, recognition, or women, but simply to reclaim a lost life and have parents who love each other—a teenage dream that is both simple and impossible to fulfill.
