Not only did this animated movie set the baseline for this classic folktale for multiple generations, but it also saved The Walt Disney Company from bankruptcy. Plus, it’s just a great movie. It’s got the right balance of heart, humor, and magic. Ilene Woods brings such warmth and goodness to the character of Cinderella. And we get not just one, but four villains, each vying for which one is the most wicked (with Lady Tremaine at the top). From the songs to the animation to the suspenseful and delightful ending, Cinderella is just the right fit. I loved how spicy Cinderella could be. She’s such a down to earth type of princess. The prince was spicy too, super sarcastic and free willed. He knew what he wanted and went for it. It was literally love at first sight. I loved the anima side kicks in this movie, especially Jack. They pretty much pushed this movie further. The side characters were all bubbly and a beautiful addiction. The music and art was stunning. If there’s anything bad I could say about, it’s possibly that they didn’t go into detail about her mother or how her father died. A bit of world building couldn’t have hurt. However it’s nothing I would complain about because I love this Disney movie.
