Equal parts heartwarming and heartbreaking, the story of the last year in the life of Andrea Gibson, Colorado's Poet Laureate, is both sad and funny. Using humor and emotion to get through the grim treatments for ovarian cancer, Gibson and their wife Megan Falley project a strength and vulnerability through the ups and downs of bad news, hopefully breakthroughs, and ultimately a terminal diagnosis.

"There's this thing [that] basketball players do where if you're practicing, you can't leave the court unless you've ended on a make. And so I've been thinking about this time that might be the end of my life as ending on a make." -Andrea Gibson Based on the footage of their final show, they didn't just end on a make. That's a full court heave. Absolutely sent it. Devastatingly beautiful emotive poetry performance. Some genuinely hilarious moments in the first 30 mins, the middle 30 got montage heavy, but the last 30 mins of this doc wrecked me. A permeating story of what it means to be alive and to know we are dying. When illness comes for me or my loved ones, I will return here to see how it's lived. There's no way to do it wrong, except to refuse to bear witness to it... all of it. BONUS quote from Andrea: "I just want to have a body. I don't care what it looks like." That's a bar.

Not much into poetry, but Andrea has a way of cutting straight to the soul. This documentary is so powerful, full of love and sorrow all wrapped up into a one of the most beautiful love stories ever. Rest in peace, Andrea. You have touched so many lives.
