Instead of guys named Danny and Polack and Sol and Brooklyn, you've got guys named Said and Yassir and Messaoud and Abdelkader. But it's the same deal. Prick them, do they not bleed? It was a bit slow without much excitement except for the action scenes near the end. There wasn't anyone I found myself rooting for. Bolstered by strong performances from a mostly unknown cast and some stirring battle sequences, most notably the final push to liberate Alsace, Days of Glory is a powerful war film that brings attention to flagrant racism that existed within the ranks as Muslim soldiers, beyond being considered expendable in the war effort, are refused leave, provided with limited rations, and, many years later, denied their war pensions.
