Young Greg Heffley is looking forward to a long summer of just hanging out, but his mother throws a monkey wrench into his plans when she forces the entire family to take a road trip for a relative's birthday celebration. His eyes soon light up after he realizes that the excursion is his ticket to a gaming convention to meet YouTube sensation Mac Digby. Greg's imagination then kicks into overdrive as he sneakily hatches a scheme to attend the expo and gain some much-deserved fame.

At least Silverstone, who hasn't lost her gift for comic pouting, is allowed to bring some humanity and playfulness to her killjoy character -- though this mainly reinforces the impression that she deserves better roles.

Overhated. It's not that bad, and me and my family had a good time watching it. I even prefer some of the cast, (I.e, Mom) over the original movies.

This movie felt like someone hung me upside down and let jefferey epstein take care of the rest. I found the part where greg and his mother start a relationship very uneasy. Why did frank leave her for the sexy uncle anyways?
