Seventeen-year-old Tanya Crandell (Simone Joy Jones) can't wait to spend the summer living it up with her friends in Spain before heading to Howard University in the fall. But when her mom (Ms. Pat) decides to head to a much-needed wellness retreat in Thailand, Tanya is forced to stay home with her three siblings instead. Following the unexpected death of their elderly babysitter (June Squibb), Tanya gets a job working for the confident and ambitious Rose (Nicole Richie). Juggling work, family, and a complicated romance, Tanya faces the responsibility of adulthood at the cost of her summer of freedom.

Surprisingly authentic and fun for remake material, which is naturally formulaic. It’s the focus on character work that lets this one sing, and it should make a star out of Jones, who, like her character, manages to hold it all together.

A mostly forgettable movie about a relatively charming family unit. It really is too bad that it is hampered by odes to the original, a convoluted plot, and at least one actor who has been woefully miscast. Please, no more. The dishes are done, man

Okay, when I first seen the title and noticed that it was black children, I was excited, but after watching it, I was highly disappointed because I don't like the fact that they oversold the black narrative. I don't like that there was so much cursing, and to me it was very ghettofied. The son with the jewelry and smoking was a stretch that was not necessary some of the jokes also not tastful. The original version was palatable. this was a bit cringe. I wish they would have dialed it back. I had high hopes for this movie and left with a bad taste in my mouth ...it was not terrible but I'm not gonna watch it again or for that matter tell anyone else to.
