Fresh off the triumph of solving her first case, Enola Holmes (Millie Bobby Brown) follows in the footsteps of her famous brother, Sherlock (Henry Cavill), and opens her own agency -- only to find that life as a female detective-for-hire isn't as easy as it seems. Resigned to accepting the cold realities of adulthood, she is about to close shop when a penniless matchstick girl offers Enola her first official job: to find her missing sister. But this case proves to be far more puzzling than expected, as Enola is thrown into a dangerous new world -- from London's sinister factories and colorful music halls, to the highest echelons of society and 221B Baker Street itself. As the sparks of a deadly conspiracy ignite, Enola must call upon the help of friends -- and Sherlock himself -- to unravel her mystery. The game, it seems, has found its feet again!

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Building on its predecessor with boisterously entertaining flair, Enola Holmes 2 solves the mystery of how to make a satisfying sequel -- and makes it look positively elementary.

Audience Says

This franchise still definitely isn't for Sherlock purists, but Enola Holmes 2 is an entertaining follow-up to the original.

dustination P @dustination 19h While not quite as strong as the first one, Enola Holmes 2 was still enjoyable. There were a lot of things introduced to setup the next sequel for some strong plot points. See more Zee M @RT94397166 2d more disappointing than the first! This one is not even trying to hide the fact that she doesn't know how to do anything right herself, and needs to rely almost exclusively on men. Which a lot of movies do, but please don't make this about feminism when you do this!!! a chick flick at most! See more Nathan J. @NathanDirector 2d Rated: 7.7/10 ⭐️ Sherlock Holmes Day marathon continues! Worried it’d feel forced, but it totally leveled up the mystery and sisterhood vibes. What Worked: • Tying the plot to the 1888 Matchgirls’ Strike gave it actual weight for me. • Cavill gets more screen time; his sibling banter with Brown is top-tier. • The score using physical matchboxes adds a gritty London energy I really love. The Friction: • At over two hours, the middle part really dragged for me. It definitely needed trimming. • The big villain reveal felt pretty obvious to me. I totally guessed the twist early. • Missing Claflin’s Mycroft was a bummer. The family dynamic felt a bit hollow without him. Verdict: Watch for a sequel that honestly outshines the first. Skip if you want gritty, adult detectives. See more Tony S @RT22145614 May 2 This movie builds on the foundation of the original, but it's a fine standalone. Not too deep on the sleuthing, but an enjoyable plot. See more Joel H @RT47793553 Mar 7 Either Enola Holmes 2 is an improvement on its predecessor or I’m just getting softer as I’m getting older. I still think that this film series thinks it’s more fun than it actually is, but I enjoyed the storytelling this time and how they wove real-life events in with a fictional mystery. Millie Bobby Brown certainly seems to be enjoying her role as the titular character. Sometimes when she breaks the fourth wall it works and sometimes it doesn’t. In addition, they can’t quite seem to decide how silly or serious they want the tone to be. My kids enjoyed Enola Holmes 2, and I thought it was fine. See more Donald K @Awesomestar Feb 21 A solid improvement from the 1st one with a better villain and it felt more mature. Good mystery and I found lots of joy watching Sherlock and Enola together. Close to the highpoint of Enola Holmes. A lot to live up to, with effective comedy this time, although I found the prison escape was slightly lacking See more Read all reviews
