See more 10/26/2023 Over 10 years old and I still like this movie a lot despite it bombing hard at the box office and not getting such favorable reviews Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies present Victoria Justice of 'Victorious' tv stardom in her big screen debut! She makes her transition to the silver screen in a family comedy set during the spookiest time of year, so you can see why I was excited to see this because the star herself and the lovable child actor wearing a costume of my favorite superhero Wren is a high school student with a mother, brother, Albert and a deceased father He used to love the holiday with his kids but the family had become estranged ever since Albert has also had to channel his feelings by playing pranks on people This one Halloween night might be just what Wren needs as she's invited to a party with her best friend, April from the hottest guy in school The bad news is that her child-like mother is going out to party and Wren is left in charge babysitting Albert having to take him trick 'r' treating The worst part is when he gets lost and she has to search all over town before morning All kinds of shenanigans ensue from teepeeing, vandalism, destruction of public property, chickens humping cars, firecrackers, and did I mention groping? Who doesn't remember having this much fun on Halloween? It's a film where you actually get to see what kids want to do this one night of the year going all out There's a lot of jokes I was laughing at, love director Josh Schwartz of 'Gossip Girl with his familiar tv filmmaking such as the music choices to fit the situations the characters face, the silent moments, the quick cuts to reveal reactions, Jane Levy is very likable as the best friend just wanting to get through the night without being ostracized, and Thomas Mann as the geeky guy secretly crushing on Wren The little bov who plays the brother is really fun as he's thrown into one crazy scenario to the next Justice as Wren; the character is light (likable enough but not extremely deep after all she's just trying to avoid getting in trouble with her mom but you don't hate her for what's happened), her performance is very genuine and she has good motivations not at all selfish It's a shame though Chelsea Handler being known for her comedic timing, I would loved if she had more lines This movie is insanely short and it is PG-13 But I definitely had a lot of fun seeing a not-so-typical adventure on the town when it's supposed to be a simple night of handing out treats, and stuffing ourselves silly Had the right amount of crudeness for a simple story but enough emotional resonance particularly towards the end that could happen to anyone It's colorful, funny, and should appeal to many Victoria Justice fans having her have a starring role with enough charm and on-screen appeal See more jon c 10/26/2022 For 2012: 10 years old and I still like this movie a lot despite it bombing hard at the box office and not getting such favorable reviews Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies present Victoria Justice of 'Victorious' tv stardom in her big screen debut!
