Bisquiteen T @RT65021124 Mar 8 Lot of good things going on here. Solid cast, making great use of a low budget, mostly great script. This is a critique I think I've actually NEVER made before because gddmn if I don't like a concise film, but I actually did want this more fleshed out - not so much the technophobia part, but the relationships between the surveilled persons. And, granted, there's not enough here to write a whole dissertation about panopticism or whatever, but I think it makes its point well, even though the highlight really is the "slices of life" from one surveilled family to the next rather than the surveillance itself. My biggest problem is the villain speech Lucienne gives at the end. We already know all this, so it's a bit heavy-handed. Like, heavy-handed enough that Batman: TAS would probably reject it as "too much." Really loved Esparza in this. Overall, good watch, but the stories would work together even without the "oh no Big Tech" factor. The lesbian was ridiculous though & I say that as one.
