College dropout Steve Jobs (Ashton Kutcher), together with his friend, technical whiz-kid Steve Wozniak (Josh Gad), sparks a revolution in home computers with the invention of the Apple 1 in 1976. Built in the garage of Jobs' parents, the device -- and the subsequent formation of Apple Inc. -- have changed the world for all time. Though he is viewed as a visionary, Jobs' tenure as Apple's leader is a rocky one, leading to his eventual ouster from the company he co-founded.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

An ambitious but skin-deep portrait of an influential, complex figure, Jobs often has the feel of an over-sentimentalized made-for-TV biopic.

A Steve Jobs biopic steeped in the mediocrity its subject despised. Go to Full Review

Too often the audience is taken out of the scene with thoughts of" Hey, isn't that Ashton Kutcher?" simply because the portrayal comes off too contrived. Go to Full Review

Jobs' remarkable life and persistently prickly personality are simply too complicated and his roller-coaster ride to the top of the personal-computing business is simply too crammed with improbable side trips and switchbacks to distill into 128 minutes. Go to Full Review

As much enthusiasm and fascination I have with the origin of Apple and Steve Jobs, I couldn't get past the mediocrity of this film. Go to Full Review

A decent film, more interested in character than chronology, and aware that every business myth is also built on flaws. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

One has the distinct feeling that Jobs himself would have been particularly unimpressed with Jobs the movie. Go to Full Review

Ian P @Nissan187 1d How many pro Jobs, apologetically poetic moments can you cram into a movie. See more Jordan S. @jswez 1d I always avoided this movie because I figured it would be a brown-nosed portrait, idolizing Jobs as a tech god. I was surprised to find that it showcased how flawed an individual he was. See more Trevor M @RT02959624 Mar 13 This movie had a great beginning with them starting apple and what it soon became. It never got to the point where apple became truly revolutionary which i was waiting for. See more Dave O @DaveO495 Dec 14 I've followed Apple since the beginning. This movie is very accurate. I first used an Apple 2 in 1981. I saw the Macintosh Super Bowl Ad when it premiered at the start of Halftime in 1984. The only thing missed was Jobs and his staff visiting the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) and discovering the Graphic Users Interface and Mouse. But, the movie didn't have time for everything probably. The movie follows both the invention phases of the Apple, Apple 2, Lisa, and Macintosh and all the business and politics issues that followed. It is a good piece of History. Well Done Movie. See more ZG1 T @MathisGB Nov 16 This movie really captures the start of Apple as a company. We can see the struggle that Steve Jobs had during his life working at Apple, and in his personal life. Despite the critics, I really enjoyed it!
