This direct-to-disc animate feature continues to develop a distinctive chemistry of DC heroes, with Jason O’Mara’s grim, humorless Batman and Jerry O’Connell’s Superman, a gentle god of a hero... as the two foundations of the new team. Go to Full Review

My problem with Throne of Atlantis is that while the film tries to poke fun at [Aquaman's] inherent silliness, it never achieves it. Go to Full Review

Adam D @Adam_ Jan 19 I heavily enjoyed this film and I'm a huge fan of Aquaman so that probably helped. I think the characterization of Arthur was spot on and I had no complaints with it. I love how his grief of Thomas death was handled but I feel like he got over his mothers death a little too quickly but that's mainly because he needed to so he could stop Orm. The character interactions were stellar especially between Batman and Superman. They felt like good friends and had an interesting rapport. The action scenes were quite enjoyable and the visuals fit the film. My one real problem with the film is that Orm spelling out that he killed Atlanna to the Justice League and Arthur was a bit contrived. I like how the team didn't need to fight their way out of defeating Orm instead rallying the people of Atlantis to their side but I feel like there is more effective ways to do so. Overall I'd definitely give this movie a whirl if you're a fan of Aquaman or DC in general. I think you'll be satisfied. Still holds well as An interesting take on DC character arcs. Action set pieces are very well animated, paces pretty quick, and Villian motives have emotional gravity. Many hero’s get their moment to shine, but Arthur Curry and the Mercy Reef, as well as Metropolis, take center stage for king of Atlantis. While it had some visually stunning moments and entertaining fight scenes, the lack of a compelling storyline and forgettable characters left me feeling underwhelmed. I would recommend this film to die-hard DC fans, but others may want to skip it. See more Read all reviews
