I will definitely watch again ☺️ See more Ben D @RT87620530 10/31/2024 Perhaps I viewed this at the wrong time, but I’m starting to feel “assassin” fatigue and haven’t even seen John Wick 4 (or the final season of Barry for that matter) yet. That aside, Kill Boksoon takes the typical sleek assassin story and grafts a single-mother/teen-daughter story onto it. Gil Bok-soon (Jeon Do-yeon, get it?) has an “A” rating as a contract killer for MK. ENT., her company. She has a 100% success rate and is worshipped by her peers and underlings. What she doesn’t have a 100% success rate in is understanding her darn angsty daughter (Kim Si-a) who is exploring lesbian proclivities with schoolmates. There’s simply too much here about Gil Jae-young (the daughter) that we don’t need to see. Cut a lot of this and the story doesn’t drag for 2 hours and 17 minutes. Fortunately, there are some fun and exciting fight scenes and training scenes — the training facility was the highlight of the movie and I could’ve used more of that — even if the “killing 20 guys in a crowded bar when like half of them have guns” gets ridiculous. In Kill Bill, at least it was 1 v. 88 with swords. The way she can foresee what will happen to her if she makes a particular move (like playing 3-D chess) is a cool effect. A plot hole for me also comes in the form of the mere stupidity of much of the plot. *Here be spoilers* Bok-soon is assigned a “show” that she refuses to carry out and because of this, she must die. This is moronic. She’s a top asset and it is nonsensical that seemingly intelligent people would destroy one of their most prized assets, assassin codes be damned. Assassin content is cooling on me, especially if it’s gonna drag. This is a good movie, but if you’re feeling the fatigue, maybe put it on the back burner and revisit it sometime next year.
