What to Know

Critics Consensus

Serving up Timothée Chalamet at his most infectiously charismatic, Marty Supreme is a propulsive epic that realizes its sky-high aspirations even while it critiques its indelible hero's toxic ambition.

Audience Says

A gripping odyssey about a nobody who wants to be somebody, Marty Supreme unfolds like a game of table tennis: explosive, unpredictable, and defined by agile movements executed with both passion and precision.

Safdie transforms a sports saga into a biting portrait of ambition, class, and identity. [It’s] a relentless odyssey of purpose and survival, where every hustle feels like a defiant claim to value in a world eager to deny it. Go to Full Review

...the movie is basically a picaresque dark comedy juiced up with violent slapstick and audacious stunt casting, with Chalamet stunting the hardest of all. Go to Full Review

The movies can be a wonderfully amoral medium, and I found myself liking Marty Mauser -- and not just liking him, but actually rooting for him to succeed. It takes more than a good actor to pull that off. It takes one of the greats. Go to Full Review

An energetic, visually spectacular, and fascinating experience in terms of character development, with a virtually perfect ending. It is the ultimate proof that Timothée Chalamet has what it takes to become a true movie star. [Full review in Spanish]. Go to Full Review

...Josh [Safdie] has demonstrated with 'Marty Supreme' that exaggerated, refreshing cinema, cut with charismatic ferocity, continues to offer us the necessary high that will keep us hooked to movie theaters for a few more years. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Matt 7h Classic Safdie movie - a thriller with contemptible but fascinating characters. Loved it. See more Andre 8h BLAH…overhyped table tennis. See more Butch H 13h Entertaining movie with many twists and turns. See more D Chung 14h i liked it. timmy is such a great actor. the movie feels so chaotic and stressful though. See more Robert S 14h What a movie! I couldn't find a single thing to not like in this thing. It's a sports movie (kind of). It's got suspense and drama elements as well as some crime thrown in for good measure. It's a little bit of everything mixed together and totally reminded me of some of the Coen Brothers best films. I know it won't win Best Picture at the Oscars, but it sure as hell should. If Chalamet doesn't win Best Actor for his career best performance, the voters are dumb. He's phenomenal as is everyone else. Easily one of 2025's best films!!! See more OBALOC 15h This movie is over hyped and I feel like it should be a limited TV series on Showtime or HBO in order to develop the character better. As it stands right now there is no one in the movie that anyone would like or even root for during the 2.5 hour watch. See more Read all reviews
