[Maria Conchita Alonso] is simply enchanting. The movie, which has its dull patches due to the lack of any sort of dramatic conflict, automatically bursts into life the minute this delightfully vivacious, dark-haired beauty appears on camera.

Some important themes about coming to America for freedom and how too much freedom is also an issue. The line, “my only freedom was my own misery, but at least I could control it and own it.” So much more could have been done with it, but it was sidelined with silly 80s humor and culture. I did appreciate those parts though too. Williams was good. RUS

This showbiz drama was great. Robin Williams, Maria Conchita Alonso, Cleavant Derricks, Elya Baskin, Alejandro Rey, and the rest of the cast did a great job in this movie. The story of the movie was entertaining and dramatic. It's about having freedom that you've always wanted and making it through the tough times living in a new country. If you haven't seen this movie yet, check it out sometime. It's worth watching. Don't listen to the bad reviews this movie has gotten, those people have terrible tastes in movies.
