This is an underdog tale straining so hard to be endearing that it’s more likely to pull a muscle than tug a heartstring. Go to Full Review

Now, nobody is saying that movies like Mother’s Pride don’t have a place in the wider film circle, for the financial success of Fisherman’s Friends says otherwise. But do they really have to be so, well, naff? Go to Full Review

Martin P @RT79978004 1d Given that I am part of the natural audience for this movie, having spent my teen years in rural Somerset where the village pubs were the social core of the community, this film was an easy sell to me. The background of pubs as barely sustainable businesses is also all too familiar. Performances just about stay clear of stereotypes & while the outcome is not much of a surprise you may well feel yourself pulling for the central set of characters as they meet their challenges. Oh and the idea of Disco Morris Dancing is just brilliant! See more James M @RT80779616 1d This is a perfectly enjoyable way to spend 90 minutes on a cold Wednesday afternoon. Yes it is slightly formulaic and a little predictable, but there were some very amusing moments...very British, a little quirky, but fun See more Hamish S @HamishS 2d A film about beer? Count me in! Yes it’s thoroughly predictable but it’s great. Some good laughs beautifully filmed and we enjoyed it. See more Audrey S @RT26928254 3d I liked the film a lot, in spite of a degree of predictability - the film brought a tear at times, but the smiles it produced more than outweighed those. I'd happily watch this film again, it has the anticipated feel-good factor! See more Chris A @CRAddison 3d It's okay - a light-hearted watch with no real-surprises and more than a few missed opportunities. It presents a somewhat rose-tinted view of village life with generally stereotyped characters and mild humour - it's not challenging and it might raise a few small laughs but not much more. That said, it was an easy watch, and even though it was very obvious exactly what was going to happen, and the script at times was more than a little preposterous, it was an okay way to pass the time. I didn't find it offensive. It felt if anything like it needed a bit more edge to it. There are other films of this ilk that have been done better. See more Donna W @RT17504948 3d Was it cliche oh yes, did we know the ending before tge opening credits oh yes, diwe laugh , cry and totally enjoy it from start to finish.....oh yes .....a must see for that warm, cosy feeling that is missed in so much today See more Read all reviews
