But this year, as her grown kids and distracted husband get swept up in their own seasonal dramas, they make one crucial mistake: they forget their mom. By the time they realize she's missing, Claire's already set off on a festive adventure of her own -- one that doesn't involve cooking, cleaning, or coordinating anyone else's chaos. Critics Consensus

Stuffing a whole lot of talent into a puny stocking, Oh. What. Fun.'s murky holiday spirit and distracting product placement too often weigh down an appealing cast.

It makes audiences wish for the slightly darker version simmering beneath the surface, instead of the one with a Norman Rockwell-esque, shellacked sheen and rushed resolutions. Go to Full Review

Oh, What. Crap. This lump of coal in our holiday stocking entraps Michelle Pfeiffer and is flat, stilted, lazy and so stretched out with Xmas clichés that you want to scream, bah-humbug Go to Full Review

“Oh. What. Fun.” may not be a perfect film, but it’s just right for anyone who turns into a needy terror around the holidays, whether they realize it or not. Go to Full Review

Oh. What. Fun. teases a sharp, edgy holiday comedy and delivers Michelle Pfeiffer at her best, only to crumble into a bland, unfocused jumble that squanders every spark it ignites. Go to Full Review

Oh. What. Fun. never manages to find its footing while trying to be earnest, sarcastic, and funny as it hammers home its "Appreciate your moms!" message. Go to Full Review

It feels over-hated because it is about how moms get hosed during the holidays (and frequently neglected throughout the year). This is to say, the ceiling for this was always "mildly pleasant," and it bumps its head right up against that. Go to Full Review

Vanessa S @motherofmovies 2d Better than anticipated See more Nader F. @knownasnad 2d 62% Michelle is undeniably the heart of this film. What a role, and what an incredible performance, she really carries the entire experience on her shoulders. The acting overall works well, and the cast feels well chosen, with a natural chemistry that makes the story easy to follow and connect with. That said, the direction didn’t fully land for me. Some of the transitions felt off, almost distracting at times, and a few of the visual effects came across as cheap and oddly placed, like something quickly put together rather than thoughtfully executed. It takes you out of the moment more than it pulls you in. At its core, it’s a simple, relatable family movie that’s easy to watch and easy to digest. There’s nothing particularly complex or groundbreaking here, and you’ve probably seen this kind of story before. Still, it does enough to keep you mildly entertained. It’s one of those films you put on when you just want something light to pass the time, nothing more, nothing less. See more Logan G. @SequelsArentAlwaysBad12 Jan 31 Oh. What. Fun. is pretty funny, and has a great cast. See more Barbara T @Barbara0666 Jan 10 Lots of bad reviews here....but I actually thought it was cute and had some good laughs. Also didn't care about the LGBTQ aspect, it's real life people! See more Eileen L @Yorkiemom Jan 7 This movie was awful and not in the least bit funny. They couldn't have a worst storyline or cast. Dennis Leary is just not a "father" figure to be cast as the dad. The "kids" chosen were awful. The whole premise was stupid and other then some christmas decorations, I didnt find it to be categorized as a christmas movie, nor a comedy. Im so pissed I wasted my time watching this. See more Liliana A @Lili81 Jan 7 It was a totally waste of time. Not funny at all, you can't even get a little vibe of the Christmas joy. Michelle Pfeiffer performance was just weird .
