A dangerous airborne virus threatens civilization in this tense thriller. After an African monkey carrying a lethal virus is smuggled into the U.S., an outbreak occurs in a California town. To control the spread of the disease, a team of doctors is brought in that includes a contagious disease expert (Dustin Hoffman) and his ex-wife (Rene Russo). Once the Army intervenes to handle the situation, though, the doctors must fight against the clock to save the town and its residents.

This film could have learnt one lesson from Ron Howard's excellent Apollo 13: you don't need baddies to generate suspense. And you don't need miraculous coincidences -- stretching credulity tighter than Homer Simpson's underpants -- to save the day.

It’s difficult to appreciate the prescience of the film and its unending relevancy, thanks to the theatrics and excitement and nearly laughable finale (full of extreme improbabilities), but it’s still mostly entertaining.

Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são fracas, a história é fraca, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom

Was awesome when it first came out, was awesome the other 99 times I've watched it, and it's still awesome today. Great writing, great casting, a brilliant performance by Dustin Hoffman and drenched in drama. Highly recommended.
