Dominic Emmanuel S @dominic726 3d basically a worse version of happy feet two See more Blu B Jan 7 It starts off with the same energy, animation, charm, and quality as the first but the longer it goes to more it goes down a very slow decline of burning off all the goodwill it built up from the first and the start. The editing and pacing is ok enough and everything else is half decent but a step down here. This films problems can be summed up in one simple sentence. As it goes on the more it gets too many subplots, characters, and the humor just feels a bit too much at times. The kids feel like a complete afterthought. The save the rainforest plot comes halfway out of nowhere and is just the same plot seen everywhere in the 90's. The red vs blue birds feels completely pointless. The return of Nigel and the frog lovestory is also completely pointless and probably feels the most shoed in of all the subplots. The move into the Amazon gives the story fresh energy as Blu and Jewel set out on a heartfelt journey to reconnect with her long-lost family. The screenplay mixes sweetness, humor, and music, with Kristin Chenoweth stealing scenes as Gabi, the dramatic poisonous frog whose dynamic with Nigel is hilarious. Roberto adds another layer of comedy, especially as Blu struggles with jealousy and fitting into Jewel’s old world. The director brings back the full cast with ease while boosting the visuals with vibrant, tropical animation. Though lighter on music than the first film, the songs still add fun and rhythm.
