"Sidekicks" is amiable enough, even if cinematically, it makes "Cop and a Half" look like "8 1/2." Go to Full Review

Couched playfully amid all the hambone hokum and Rocky- style heroic flourishes of Sidekicks, there hides an undeniable sense of dignity and emotional uplift. Go to Full Review

Sidekicks is so predictable that you could leave the theater, break a few bricks of your own and not miss anything. Go to Full Review

It's soulful and funny and more than a few notches in quality above the films of those martial arts phenoms the Teen-age Mutant Ninja Turtles. Go to Full Review

There's a sense of desperation about the whole thing: Norris and brother-director Aaron charged with salvaging Norris' flailing career came up with a load of self-aggrandizing fluff. Go to Full Review

The movie is just a Karate Kid knockoff too late to the party and used as a vehicle to give Norris something similar. Go to Full Review

Shae M @Excelsior 3d I childhood favourite of mine. Follows the same premise of Karate Kid. With its own twist. The main Barry who daydreams about being a sidekick with Chuck. Gets bullied at school. Starts Martial arts with a teachers uncle. Its fun with great music! Chuck is epic as always. My favourite Chuck Norris and Jonathan Brandis movie I also had Asthma growing up as a kid. I was walking to church and had to be rushed to hospital because of my Asthma. After that I joined Martial arts classes and over time I beat my Asthma. Then because I kicked my Asthma, helped my join my Basketball and baseball team! R.I.P Jonathan Brandis and Chuck Norris See more Phil H @P-Hubbs 5d So without sounding like a broken record, yes, this movie does seem to be an attempt at making a more light-hearted version of 'The Karate Kid'. The comparisons are unavoidable. Alas, this offering really is a strange combination of a few ideas, of which none really shine. All in all its a very cliched, generic, and formulaic plot, with some heavily watered-down Chuck Norris action thrown in. See more Carlos I @carlosFibarra Mar 11 Sidekicks serves as a fluff piece for Norris, that leans heavily on the tropes established by its predecessors. While it undeniably plays like a safe, predictable Karate Kid knockoff, the movie manages to transcend its derivative script through sheer heart. The dream-sequence gimmick involving a self-parodying Chuck Norris adds a layer of whimsical wish fulfillment that makes the experience undeniably charming fun for anyone looking for a lighthearted, feel-good throwback. See more Luke S @put3__ Feb 12 Chuck Norris makes this movie awesome. See more David W @Sternhammer Jul 28 Should have been a straight home run with Chuck, Mako and child actor Brandis but with Aaron Norris at the helm it just never gets beyond another Karate Kid wannabe. I'd have loved to see Chuck in far more films with a decent director rather than utilising his brother. The heights that Chuck could have reached were never fully realised as a result and I say that as a huge fan of Chuck.
