In its building up Sleeping Dogs seems to stand out, but unfortunately it turns out not to be anything special after all. If you like noir murder mysteries, this is the movie for you. Sleeping Dogs with Russell Crowe and Tommy Flanagan is an outstanding classic neo-noir murder mystery. It's excellently done — the script is amazing, great cinematography, the pacing is excellent, and the dialogue keeps you on the edge of your seat. The mystery deepens as it unfolds, taking several surprising turns and leaving you guessing right up until the very last moment. It reminds me of Memento, but is better and more seamless. I know it's been a few years since Russell Crowe was in his glory days, but I think this is one of his best movies. It's a classic whodunit, and I recommend it to everyone.
