Critics Consensus

Though perhaps a case of style over substance, Guy Ritchie's second crime caper is full of snappy dialogue, dark comedy, and interesting characters.

Very cartoonish, but still quite a lark, with lots of Ritchie’s kinetic directorial style. Go to Full Review

With this morbidly bouncy black comedy Ritchie finds a sneaky way to avoid sophomore slump: by passing his freshman tests all over again. And now for something completely different, please. Go to Full Review

Ritchie may be skilled at generating controlled chaos, but his surprise-a-minute strategy ultimately holds no surprises. Go to Full Review

As Ritchie's second feature film, Snatch is well done and shows inklings of the master craftsman he will eventually become. Go to Full Review

It is unquestionable that the script and direction are of an impressive level that places the filmmaker as one of the most eloquent writers and brightest narrators that emerged from the perfidious Albión in the last two decades. [Full Review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Yaaron R @KompetenterMedi 19h Style Without Restraint Snatch is often praised as classic Guy Ritchie, but for me it represents his style at its most grating. The frantic editing, exaggerated characters, and constant reliance on quirks and accents create an exhausting experience rather than an entertaining one. The film feels more interested in showing off attitude than telling a compelling story, and its stereotypical characters lack substance or emotional pull. Compared to The Gentlemen, which applies similar ideas with far more control, Snatch comes across as an overindulgent version of the same formula. It plays like a director parodying himself, and instead of pulling me in, it pushed me away. See more theguywithawheel23 21h The waft of Lock, Stock is all over this movie, but surprisingly none of it spoils the fun, or the charm. You could call it the unofficial sequel and all you'd be left with is a movie outmatching it's predecessor in almost every way. It's funny, smart, smooth as all hell and not a single performance is wasted. It's even better developed in story and character and may even hold the honourable title as one of the most quotable movies of all time.
