Swackhammer (Danny DeVito), an evil alien theme park owner, needs a new attraction at Moron Mountain. When his gang, the Nerdlucks, heads to Earth to kidnap Bugs Bunny (Billy West) and the Looney Tunes, Bugs challenges them to a basketball game to determine their fate. The aliens agree, but they steal the powers of NBA basketball players, including Larry Bird (Larry Bird) and Charles Barkley (Charles Barkley) -- so Bugs gets some help from superstar Michael Jordan (Michael Jordan).

What to Know

Critics Consensus

While it's no slam dunk, Space Jam's silly, Looney Toons-laden slapstick and vivid animation will leave younger viewers satisfied -- though accompanying adults may be more annoyed than entertained.

This deeply peculiar high concept is more or less kept upright by the sterling work of Wayne Knight, playing Jordan’s nerdy beta-assistant, and a laid-back cameo from Bill Murray, channelling some of his Caddyshack energy. Go to Full Review

It you hate basketball, you'll hate Space Jam. If you don't, it's bubblegum the whole family should enjoy. Go to Full Review

Here we have the reliance on special effects, the mixture of cheap moralising and confected mythology that passes for a plot, the triumph of merchandising over art. Go to Full Review

Though hardly dramatically challenged, Jordan has a winning presence and even spoofs himself and his failed baseball experiment. Go to Full Review

Space Jam is quite the ride, and a mostly good one at that, with its insane story, blending of live action and animation, and great soundtrack Go to Full Review

alex 4d An iconic film starring the greatest cartoon characters in the greatest basketball player of all time, space jam is the perfect blend of sports action comedy real life cameo appearances in an amazing soundtrack. See more MELROW 4d Wonderful movie! This is a favorite movie of my son when he was growing up. It was fun seeing Space Jam on the big screen with him tonight for the first time. He’s now 28 and this movie tonight took him right back to his childhood. We had a wonderful, nostalgic evening! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ See more Tom Hughes 02/27/2022 Since my childhood days, I have wishing to see this movie at a theater, but today was my lucky day to have my wish come true. Boy, it was nice to see a movie from the late 1990's in this decade, especially with a combination of live-action and animation put together. See more Danelle O 07/21/2021 Comedy was great! Basketball game and graphics were amazing. Movie was family oriented! See more Nathan J. @NathanDirector May 1 Rated: 6.7/10 ⭐️ Happy Bugs Bunny Day 🐰 🥕 I expected 90s nostalgia, and the wild blend of NBA action and Looney Tunes slapstick is still a total trip. What Worked: Pytka’s virtual studio gives the animation hybrid tactile weight. Through my Faith Methodism lens, Jordan stepping up to protect the Tunes reminds me that grace means using talents to uplift others. Plus, the iconic soundtrack perfectly anchors the chaotic energy, giving the final game massive hype. The Cuts: The pacing really dragged for me during the NBA side plots, stalling momentum. Keeping it spoiler-free, the villain is super one-dimensional, making stakes feel half-baked. Also, the rushed production means CGI backgrounds visuals are inconsistent next to the 2D characters. Verdict: A goofy 90s time capsule. A must-watch for basketball fans wanting nostalgia, but skip if you need a serious sports drama. Favorite Line: “You’re not a Looney Tune! You’re Michael Jordan!” See more Matteo Q @Matteo59 Apr 29 Rispetta i classici looney tunes See more Read all reviews
