Animal movies aren't new, and this one uses the classic Disney formula: musical numbers, animated sequences that are driven by music... of course, it won't be an unforgettable film. However, the script and characters won't leave you indifferent. You won't be bored for a single minute as it unfolds. The simple premise of a kidnapped father becomes an engaging story with a political undertone. Ratigan makes an excellent antagonist. The London setting is the perfect backdrop. Who could resist the super-sleuth Basil? Although it's not directly based on the adventures of Sherlock Holmes, I bet his fans will enjoy the atmosphere and pacing of this film... entertaining for everyone (Disney did it again). Basil of Baker Street is all time See more Kevin P @RT55971421 Dec 18 An incredibly fun and underrated Disney movie that often gets overshadowed by the Disney Renaissance. It's more entertaining than it has any right to be. Basil is such a funny and clever protagonist. He's blunt and egotistical, but he's legitimately awesome. The villain Ratigan is hilarious and ruthless, voiced brilliantly by Vincent Price. Price is having so much fun in the role as this flamboyant playful diva who's trying to look suave while barely holding in his primal rage that is only blessed at the end when his true colors come out. It's so much fun watching these two brilliant egos clash with their high stakes petty rivalry. The rest of the characters are all really likable. Ratigan's villain song is a great musical number that ends on a dark note. I love Ratigan's elaborate and petty death trap for Basil. The climax on Big Ben was brutal as Ratigan finally snaps and shows his true colors. It's a pleasant surprise for such a lesser-known Disney movie, and an easy recommendation.
