LAA A @LAA84 2d I really liked the atmosphere of the movie, especially since it’s set in an older era. That said, the visual effects weren’t very polished — in a lot of scenes you can clearly see the low budget and that much of it was shot in studios. The acting overall was good, though at times the reactions felt a bit exaggerated. The story itself isn’t new, and the ending is pretty obvious from the start, with not much depth to the plot. The action was good, characters seemed good, but I was saying, ' why would you all go in the church'? Silliest place to go. Why doesn't the cannon guy have protection? It was just like someone who had never even seen a battle on TV wrote the battle scene. There's like 10- 15 bad guys on one beach, that's the whole enemy? Why is the settlement do unprepared? Otherwise cool.. Maybe I'll try again if I can suspend belief. See more Kh T @KartR 6d If you’re looking for a fresh take on a pirate movie, this one might just satisfy that appetite. It’s a fairly basic story where the lead has retired from a dark past to enjoy a quiet life, but inevitably, that past catches up with them. The rest of the film revolves around how things unfold from there—that’s essentially the crux of the movie. And yes, the lead is female, for what that’s worth. Priyanka Chopra and Karl Urban do a good job carrying the film with their performances. The action scenes are well choreographed, and the costume designer deserves credit—the attention to detail really makes it feel like you’re living in that time period.
