It wasn't that much of a run of the mill exorcism movies in that it added a few twists and turns to it! It was also well made, directed and well acted, thus making it a higher quality horror movie! It had some genuine scares and a very eerie tone to it! It took a few things from "The Exorcist," but only a few of them so as not to copy the classic! And the few that it took were wise choices since a reminder of that movie helped to make this movie a bit scarier and horrifying! I am getting tired of possession movies, just like I am of super hero movies! But that is not too say that if one comes along in either category that doesn't make it repetitive likes it's predecessor's, it has a far better chance of being successful and not dull and boring because we have seen the same thing so many times! Such was the case with "The Exorcism Of God." I just to have to comment on some of the user reviews! I have been a fan of horror movies since the age of 5 and now I am 74 years old, so I have seen more than most people. Because of that it takes a lot for a horror movie to not just satisfy me but give me some scares and the creeps now and then. This movie provided me with that! I don't see how a father would take a 10 year old to see such a movie to begin with, but then to say that his child wasn't the least bit scared is either a lie, or he didn't even take his child to see the movie. Perhaps he didn't like it, an opinion that he is entitled to, and figured that he would make his review even more negative by throwing in the alleged comment by his child! Anyhow, it is nice to know that a movie whose genre has been filled with so many like movies, can create one that is just different enough to make it entertaining! See more Chris W @tensigh Feb 22 I normally like exorcism films, despite their theological flaws. This one is definitely bottom of the barrel, though. Take a boring lead character, throw in some cheap jump scares and some decent possession makeup and you have this film. The film opens with an exorcism that fails where the demon repeatedly tempts the priest with sex. That's it. They could have done more like other exorcism films have, but NO, they decide to use sex as a lure. It got so tiresome my thumb hit the "fast forward" button a few times and it STILL grated me. Ugh. The worst thing about this film was the priest role was just so blah. Not relatable, not interesting, just annoying. Honestly I almost started rooting for the demons. I gave it one star for the demon makeup. At least that was adequate to good. Otherwise, skip this one. The director clearly appreciates the original exorcist movie and the influence from the original is clear to see. Again, if you like exorcism movies, you’ll probably like this one.
