The subject matter — a pair of teenage cancer sufferers meet and fall in love — could have been mawkish mush, but there’s a sharp, abrasive wit and anger that tempers the tear-jerking with humour. Go to Full Review

The reason that The Fault in Our Stars works so well is that its main draw (the teenage love story) is tied so expertly to its emotional core (Hazel's relationship with her parents). Go to Full Review

The Fault In Our Stars could indeed become this generation's Love Story -- mildly implausible, but genuinely moving. Go to Full Review

It actually presents us with situations and a relationship that feels genuine yet uncertain because of the dark cloud hanging over it. Go to Full Review

My biggest complaint about the whole experience was being splashed by the tears of my fellow moviegoers. Bring a towel. Go to Full Review

The winning combo of the shamelessly melodramatic and the slyly mischievous that powers the movie owes much to yet another pitch-perfect lead performance from Woodley. Go to Full Review

Brian L. @Brian91 2d 🔥🔥 Great love story! See more Kevin P @RT55971421 2d A very charming and uplifting bittersweet romcom about two teenagers with terminal cancer falling in love. It's a great subversion of the typical teen romance storyline that avoids the cliches and goes in unpredictable directions. The movie has a careful balance of sad and uplifting moments helped by its great dialogue and heartfelt acting. Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort are both really likable as Hazel and Gus. Their romance is really cute and charming. Despite the sad subject matter, the movie is very funny in a respectful and gentle manner. I love the cute indie folk rock soundtrack. The movie surpasses most romcoms with its maturity and emotional intelligence. Willem Dafoe is great as the "Never meet your heroes" author. We get an incredibly bittersweet ending that makes your appreciate the brevity of life. This is such a sincere movie that's so genuine and unashamed of its kind gentle optimistic worldview about finding the best in people and making the most of our time. See more Samson K. @RT93486112 Mar 18 This movie was inspierd on a book and it is a favorite of mine i personaly love it the cast great the acting amazing and it makes you wanna cry and hold your loved ones even more i thinkits worth it See more Noel L @RT15930389 Feb 23 What a tear jerker. I haven't read the book. But this film seems great with it's great acting and undeniable chemistry See more VITALII H @freakynickison Feb 20 This story is undeniably inspiring and hopeful. But when it comes to the movie in general, I don’t know, something was missing. I thought that I’m gonna be crying out loud towards the end, no I didn’t. For the final product that we have it felt a bit too long. Feel free to disagree with me. Even Hazel’s family, it felt like a very important scene was missing from the movie, an emotional outburst from her parents, a substantial dialogue that would make us feel what they’re going through. There are a few movies that portray this idea and have similar themes that are executed in a better way, for instance "Me Before You" (2016) or "The Intouchables" (2011) and I’m sure there’s more. Had high expectations. To be clear, it wasn’t bad by any means, it could’ve been a lot better, that’s all I’m saying. See more Adelle J. @jjsjdhdjiskenwkwowkwjjwurjenebrhe Jan 9 This is such a good movie and it really showcases people with depression and cancer See more Read all reviews
