An atmospheric and thrilling tale that has echoes of Children of Men, I Am Legend, The Road and 28 Days Later... in its intimate focus, sombre visuals and bleak narrative which doesn't pull any punches about the plight are characters are in.

Für einen Survival Thriller sehr viele überraschend neue Momente. Cool, gefiel mir sehr gut. Glaubwürdig, die Spannung hält bis zum Schluss. Eine Fortsetzung wäre wünschenswert

I'm giving this one a solid 8/10. The acting was really good, especially by the girl who played Melanie. I also liked the concept and world building-- similar to the Last of Us, as far as the zombies go, but with a unique twist. I think Melanie's character arc was really interesting too.

It was a good movie overall, but I didn't love the ending. Not because it wasn't what I was expecting, but because it felt out of place. We spend a lot of the movie learning about Melanie & second generation hungries. Their behaviour, their mannerisms, etc. It was clear that Melanie wasn't like the others. She put herself in several life or death situations, she had more self control. Even the soldiers and sergeant were starting to warm up to her as the movie progressed. It made sense that Melanie didn't want to sacrifice herself after being told she was alive, but I feel like her decision to make the infection airborne didn't align with her character development. It was also a bit strange to me that Justineau was ok with her decision. Melanie ultimately sacrificing Justineau made it feel like their bond was in vain. And obviously, there's the prospect of what would happen to Melanie after the cure was created, but Justineau probably would've found some sort of way to protect her.

A great zombie flick, but also a good drama. The relationships between humans & half-zombie girl, Melanie, are terrific: both touching & scary. The end is something that most people won't expect, as {SPOILER ALERT} she decides that her kind of being will be the ones surviving.
