From Executive Producer Roland Emmerich (Moonfall) comes a captivating film that follows a teen on two journeys: one into a prestigious boarding school to fulfill his aspirations as a singer, and another into a parallel world filled with fantasy and adventure. Tim (Jack Wolfe, Shadow And Bone) has been dreaming his whole life about attending Mozart All Boys Music School, but already his first days there confront him with a hostile headmaster (F. Murray Abraham, The White Lotus), the stresses of a first love, and serious doubts about the authenticity of his singing voice. When he discovers a mystical gateway in the school’s library, he is pulled into the fantastic cosmos of Mozart's opera, The Magic Flute, where imagination has no limits and the Queen of the Night (Sabine Devieilhe) reigns.

In a way it’s kind of neat. In another way it’s kind of dopey. The movie toggles between those two states throughout. But the tunes are nice, and it is novel, one could say, to hear them sung in non-operatic modes.

FANTASTIC! Words cannot describe how truly magical this movie is! Both the real world and the magic flute's world are so visually stunning, it takes one's breath away! And everyone involved can sing so beautifully! They really hit it out of the park by hiring professional singers for the Queen and King roles. I truly enjoyed the newcomers to the acting world, and I cannot wait to see how they continue to blossom throughout their careers. And F. Murray Abraham is truly in his element as the grumpy, erudite authority figure. But the real standout is Iwan Rheon as the scene-stealing Papageno. Even when the focus is on another character, he is such a commanding presence. I truly wish that I could see him in more roles. If he had played his "Inhumans" character in the same goofy, mischievous way he played Papageno, maybe "Inhumans" would have lsted more than one season. All in all, this is a must-watch for everyone, especially as an introduction to Mozart's iconic masterpiece. I think Mozart himself would be charmed by this film.

The lead actor, Jack Wolfe, is lovely and likable and he makes this flawed movie quite watchable with his effortless charm. The acting and singing is very three-and-a-half stars throughout, with the exception of excellent acting from Niamh McCormack and Iwan Rheon and some truly spectacular vocals from soprano Sabine Devieilhe in the role of Queen of the Night, Worth the watch, especially if you're a fan of the story.
