As grand-scale, eye-popping entertainment, "The Odyssey" succeeds as no miniseries has since "Shogun." Go to Full Review

Except for some shabby special effects and a couple of low-rent monsters, "The Odyssey" generally delivers the goods as entertainment. Go to Full Review

Jim222001 W @Jim222001 Dec 27 The two critics reviews on here are low and also wrong. This is a pretty nice adaptation. See more Brandon C @RT40752706 Aug 4 The best movie ever !! See more Spider H @RT73451987 Jul 2 Beautifully understands the themes of the story. The SFX are mostly practical and so they hold up well (Henson sfx always hold up well), but even if they didn't, the story is what REALLY makes something hold up through the years, and an adaptation is made or broken by how well it understands the themes of the story being adapted. Konchalovsky understood the cultural themes and context of the story and gave us a beautiful and truly epic chapter of it, leaning on the themes of Xenia, Hubris, and Nostos. If I had kids I'd definitely show them this adaptation! See more Andy L @RT57638944 01/06/2025 Even though the special effects are out-dated, the superb acting, engaging pace and accurate aesthetics still excite my inner child when it comes to this classic! A must see for anyone who loves the ancient world or mythology. See more David W @RT91245001 05/23/2024 Watching it 27 years after its release, the special effects have not aged well but the miniseries is still an engaging and faithful adaptation of the ancient story. I would definitely watch it again. See more steve d @RT35616104 01/05/2023 one of the best adaptations. See more Read all reviews
