London, 1974. As Britain prepares for electrical blackouts to sweep across the country, trainee nurse Val (Rose Williams) arrives for her first day at the crumbling East London Royal Infirmary. With most of the patients and staff evacuated to another hospital, Val is forced to work the night shift, finding herself in a dark, near empty building. Within these walls lies a deadly secret, forcing Val to face both her own traumatic past and deepest fears in order to confront the malevolent force that's intent on destroying everything around her.

Rundown facility, run down people, rundown humanity. Super creepy atmosphere in this building, with eerie sensations, sectoral apparitions, and unseen forces. So much distrust and gossip from many of our staff who are far too lazy and overly comfortable in their positions in life. Beautifully haunting and all the tropes of a classic haunted facility. The eventual possession of the only one who cares, and the pain inflicted upon them makes me smile my black grin, from my black heart. The silent will be, must be heard...

Rose does an excellent job in change of dynamics throughout the film. The vibe is excellent for creep factor period piece with a heavy asylum-paranormal feel. The low ratings are frankly dumb as hell. I find most British films dry, dull, boring and way too prim & proper. This film absolutely slams for what it is.

Just lacked punch, actors good, setting good, but should have developed Val’s character more. Movie was in two places not completing either, should have been either a horror movie or a fight for social justice for the child victims…

This was an incredible story and a tremendous movie. I'm surprised it isn't a bigger deal. Like, we should be talking about this film. The journey was dark and unsettling. The ending was beautiful and inspiring. With themes of power and dark throughout, like, this was really, really great.

Synopsis
