@thatsawrap 01/14/2023 Such an interesting concept that takes the viewer on a wild ride. Each segment is daring and brave with each director exploring a very person vision. Gillian is breathtaking, an accomplished actor with so much emotional truth and range. She brings us along her journey as this road trip film explores her seven faces. See more Kirk A 01/14/2023 I was excited to see this film based on my love of Gillian and Joel and Ken from Community and I was lucky enough to get a ticket to opening night. The trailer was super-intriguing with a kind of Twilight Zone / David Lynch vibe to it. What I wasn't expecting was the range of emotions I would feel watching Gillian go on this journey as Jane. Since it's multiple short stories within one larger film, it's all over the map in terms of tone. It's really heartbreaking at times. And beautiful at others. And it's just astounding how much weight Gillian is able to carry as Jane. There are still elements of this film that I haven't fully processed yet. Lastly the filmmakers gave a Q&A after the movie and it was really touching how much respect and love they have for Gillian, and how each of their stories really came from a personal place. This is not an easy popcorn movie. Some segments/stories definitely resonated more with me than others. But as a completely unique and intriguing piece of film, I can't think of anything else quite like it. If you like indy films and exposing yourself to new and different points of view, it's worth a shot. See more Bisquiteen T @RT65021124 Feb 28 Seriously great. Yeah, it's going to be disjointed. It reminds me of creative writing classes where we'd write a paragraph in a few minutes, and then fold the paper so only the last sentence would be visible to the person who took off where the last person finished. Sure, we made some Mad Libs sht at times, but there were also times that were such better stories than "this happens, then this happens, then this happens..." One of those folded-paper stories was one of the best I've ever heard. People calling this "disjointed" like that somehow makes it bad really have no idea how good stories actually work. All of this works perfectly with Jane's character, which is easily established by Jacobs's own direction and then maintained throughout the vignettes. I didn't feel like there were any unnecessary gaps at all. I only wonder if the whole "they didn't know what happened before or after" is true for the writer/directors because these chapters work SO WELL together. It's possible, though.
