Tense, smartly written, and wonderfully cast, The Town proves that Ben Affleck has rediscovered his muse -- and that he's a director to be reckoned with.

So this isn't fresh, exactly, but it is tense and exciting and well performed and you do end up caring about the people you've been manipulated into caring about. I ask you: what more could you want from a trip to the cinema? Go to Full Review

As far as a developing directing talent goes, The Town is to Ben Affleck what Pulp Fiction was to Quentin Tarantino. It's that good. Go to Full Review

A crackling drama with a fine sense of both spatial relationships (thank director Ben Affleck) and character relationships (thank scripter Ben Affleck). Go to Full Review

A surprisingly effective crime thriller that succeeds by leaning into the diversity of the ensemble cast of characters and their perspectives. Go to Full Review

It’s a well-executed mashup of set pieces and character dynamics that fail to build on what came before. Which, truth be told, still makes for a pretty entertaining viewing. Go to Full Review

William F @RT01020847 1d My all time favourite film… This film encompasses the bank heist genre with the romance genre in a gritty, realistic, adrenaline filled, heartwarming, thrilling way that no other film I’ve watched has come close to. I can’t give Ben Affleck enough praise for howhe produced such a timeless masterpiece. The storyline itself is legendary. How ‘Gem’ (my favourite character) would do anything for his brother Doug without hesitation, he immediately looked for and struck down the manwho was looking to kill Dougwhen they were younger (knowing he would do many years in prison for it). He puts Doug before his own safety or freedom andthat is the kind of brotherly love I’ve never seenfrom another character in any other film I’ve seen. There’s so much more I want to say about this filmbut there’s a 1000 character limit. I’ll endthis review with the beautiful ending moment where Claire ultimately saves Doug by usingthe codeword of how if he came to her apartment it would be one of her "Sunny days". See more D. Hunter P @RT01359631 4d This is a good movie that is well done, but it is also a pretty stereotypical hollywood style story. I think there are lots of fan fictions that could run from this premise and have a lot of fun with it. See more Joe B @Beckwj Feb 28 Ben Affleck once again demonstrates he's a writer & director to be reckoned with. Intelligently written and well crafted characters - a story of trauma and moving on from your past, answering one key question: are people able to truly change? Fantastic Film. See more Terry H @RT83445150 Feb 27 Circled back to this one. Have seen it several times over the years. Really struck me this time as the kind of movie they just don't make anymore. Raw, gritty characters, compelling story. Good acting. Enjoyed it. See more Thyaagu C @Thyaagu Feb 17 The Town delivers stellar acting, a killer score, dynamic camera work, and a solid plot - everything clicks perfectly. YET, a punchier screenplay packed with more twists and sharper dialogues could've transformed this good film into a legendary classic. See more Romas M @Romas Feb 2 Greetings from Lithuania. "The Town" (2010) is a good crime thriller. It was directed by Ben Affleck and it was his second feature, leading to the Oscar winning "Argo" in 2012. "The Town" is a good heist film witch also has interesting characters portrayed by great actors. The film is set in Boston and the location itself adds to the film a lot. There are few great action set pieces with chases and those looked very good. Clearly a lot of effort was put into the look of this film as it is very realistic and authentic looking. Overall, great cast lead by a great director at peak of his game made "The Town" into a very good film. See more Read all reviews
