Critics Consensus

Treading water between gnarly kills, Thrash dishes some old-fashioned jolts but would've had more bite if its human characters were more compelling chum.

More shallow than The Shallows, and lacking the depth of even Deep Blue Sea, this has chuckle-worthy moments but will be forgotten roughly 47 metres down in the lower-echelons of shark cinema. Go to Full Review

Nothing in Thrash is going to wow Steven Spielberg, and its adherence to plot logic is elastic to say the least. But as bloody, dumb shark thrillers go, it stays afloat. Go to Full Review

This is a Netflix and Chomp movie, just 80 minutes long (if you don’t count the closing credits), and the compact run time does more than keep “Thrash” from wearing out its welcome. Go to Full Review

It’s short, so even with the major faults within, this is an entertaining and captivating disaster movie that happens to have sharks… and the third act truly goes insane. Go to Full Review

Lots of unforgivable things happen in Thrash, none of which involve the sharks, who are righteous in their appetite. Go to Full Review

Despite the abundance of script issues, Thrash proves to be a fun, brisk nature-run-amok film. Think Crawl with sharks. Go to Full Review

Kyle T @RT17651730 1d It’s a great movie with nice acting, and I also really like that they used bull sharks as the enemy, as those are the most aggressive kind of shark and therefore most likely to attack humans. The whole movie had me sitting in suspense, wondering what would happen next. My only problem with it is that we didn’t really get to know what happened to the 3 kids. See more Anthony Z. @RT43606255 1d I personally really enjoyed this movie I thought it would be alot more suspenseful I just thought some parts were very predictable or just atleast for me See more Taylor E @RT76692042 1d 0 common sense and 0 development. It’s a good job it’s only 80 minutes long (excluding credits). Awkward camera moments where things appear then disappear again and inaccurate timelines. The water is at one point up to the roof but in another place it’s not risen at all and the kids can still sit on the tables on the ground floor. The ‘funny’ moments aren’t funny they’re just badly written. 70 minutes of the 80 minute film could have been told in 20 minutes. And the 10 minute ending could have been 30. It felt very rushed and thrown together for a cash grab. See more E J @RT70317985 May 17 Typical fare. Didn't feel scared when the young girl was in the water as you know they never kill the kid with the mental issues. Where has the talent gone in making movies? See more CT 8 @ct8787 May 17 Here’s an idea…if you going to make a movie about a hurricane how about hire someone to write and direct it who actually knows what a hurricane look like. And while you’re at it hire someone who knows and understands shark behaviour in hurricanes. Hint : It’s the opposite to how they’re portrayed in this laughable, fact-free movie about hurricanes. I won’t get into the cast loaded with unlikeable and/or just plain stupid characters. Or the subplots that defy all logic. Do yourself a favor and avoid this nonsense altogether… it’s two hours you’ll never be able to get back. See more Eric D @SlySidewinder May 17 Loved this film! Scary but also smart and entertaining!
