Regina (Thandie Newton) meets charming Joshua (Mark Wahlberg) while vacationing in Martinique, as she contemplates ending her whirlwind marriage to enigmatic Charlie (Stephen Dillane). Then upon her return to Paris, she finds that both her apartment and her bank account have been emptied, and her husband has been murdered. The more Reggie learns, the more she realizes the scope of the puzzle, which she must solve to protect herself from ever-increasing danger.

The only reason people low-ball this movie is the need to fetishize Grant and Hepburn. Both versions are entertaining but this one’s got better atmosphere.

It's a bit slow in parts, and the videography is unsettling to the point of almost being crazy weird. There is a sincere lack of chemistry between the leads. However, Newton gave a great performance. And I did get surprised a few times. I wanted to keep watching to find out what was really going on. Not a great movie, but fun camp. Just don't compare it to the original - take it on its own merits.

The Truth About Charlie is a good film with cool twists and turns, Mark Whalberg and Tim Robbins acted really well, the other co-stars did a good job too

Synopsis
