Shannon P Apr 23 I loved it! It might be my demographic--born in 1960's--but it was great entertainment and of historical interest too. Only disappointment was that the Grateful Dead didn't give permission to show their Woodstock performance (which I understand was..."not their best"!). It's a 4 hour documentary I feel lucky to have been able to see it in a movie theater. And by the looks of it, it really lived up to the moniker of 3 days of peace and music. From the rudimentary building of the stage in the middle of a field to the opening performance of Richie Havens to the closing moments and poof Jimi Hendrix. Despite the mass of humanity, it proved to be a successful event with very little controversy. A great look back at the music and attitude of the love generation. See more dave s @RT68722908 03/10/2022 Whether it's the original version or the lengthier Director's Cut (which clocks in at just under four hours), Woodstock is a film that needs to be seen by lovers of documentaries and/or lovers of music and/or lovers of the 60's culture. The music, especially in the extended version, is top-notch throughout, featuring stellar performances from Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and The Who, among others, including a touching performance from John Sebastian. But what makes the film so wonderful is the candid footage of the concert-goers, content to withstand the elements in order to embrace three days of love, community, and music. It's an important historical film for those not old enough to remember the turbulent times of social change and a meaningful piece of nostalgia for those fortunate enough to remember the era. The definitive documentary and concert film about the historical Woodstock Concert. Even if you don't love the music you have to appreciate the historical significance of this film and the underlying event.
