The film tries to modernize the classic cartoon character, but most of the humor feels loud, repetitive, and lacking the charm that made the original shorts memorable. The CGI version of Woody Woodpecker looks acceptable at times, but the movie around him feels overly generic and predictable. Many of the jokes rely on chaotic slapstick without enough clever writing to make them consistently funny or entertaining. Overall, it feels like a missed opportunity to properly bring the classic character to modern audiences. Instead of capturing the energy of the old cartoons, the film ends up feeling forgettable and exhausting. I rate it a 1/10.
