dave d @RT34924333 02/09/2021 It's a slice of history of New York. If you like guitars, music, New York, in any combination you'll probably enjoy Carmine Street Guitars. We meet owner Rick Kelly, and his apprentice. and shows how much passion the duo have for making, fixing and restoring guitars. I've often said watching passionate people about a subject you don't like can be illuminating, but this Canadian (yes that's right) documentary takes us through every piece of the guitar from start to finish. Kelly goes into great detail about which woods are right for each other and how he comes upon 18th century wood. It's lovely and flies by and has a distinctly NY feel! At times you can tell they are speaking from a script, which takes away from the natural feel of the place and the guitars. Other than that, the film doesn't really go anywhere, it's more of a "hey we make guitars from old wood salvaged from NY buildings, and we've been doing it since forever"... that's it.
