Live from London, it's the UK version of the groundbreaking sketch series. Celebrity guest hosts join an ensemble of British comedians including Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi and Paddy Young to perform sketches, satirical news and video shorts. Each live episode also features a performance from a popular musical guest. From executive producer Lorne Michaels, "SNL" is widely considered a late-night institution, and the UK version continues its incomparable legacy with a distinctly British sensibility.

It felt refreshing to see an ambition/piece of madness like retooling a legacy US brand for this septic isle even being attempted. It did not fail. And in the coming weeks, let’s hope, it can build towards real success. Go to Full Review

The cast was good enough that I’ll watch the next few weeks, if only to justify facile jokes about how it USED to be funny. Go to Full Review

In the course of a single episode, “SNL UK” managed to feel very much like its parent show — which is to say, some of it worked well and some of it worked less well, but very little of it didn’t work at all. Go to Full Review

Rather than anxiety or pressure, the cast exhibited something you rarely see on the NBC show: total calm and confidence in themselves and the material at hand. Go to Full Review

It's in its early days compared to the decades the original SNL has on its resume, but this U.K. version is proving that it has a lot to offer of its own. Go to Full Review

Let’s see how they do with more limited time with which to work. This one’s got good bones, though, and Tina Fey was an excellent first host. Go to Full Review

Adam I @RT33395118 1d I’ve always enjoyed shows that mix comedy with sharp social commentary, and Saturday Night Live UK really seems to follow that tradition with fresh sketches and satire. It’s interesting to compare it with other genres like crime dramas — you can even check some recent releases here: DramaOnline.pk. Both types of shows reflect cultural trends, but in very different ways. See more Host A @tommmmmmm 1d Saturday night live is one of the most painfully unfunny TV shows in the history of time. And the British version was a stupid idea that is also not funny. Americans steal British TV and make it terrible. So why has England made this crap See more Ashley B. @RT20937072 2d Loving it so far. Wet Leg was cool. See more Daniel D @Unknown0bserver 2d Awful. What an absolute disaster. Firstly, it’s not even remotely funny. It’s Spitting Image scenes but without the humour and the talented puppets (they acted better, more convincing). The producers and makers must have thought it was terrible too as they decided to throw in canned laughter at the end of every spoken line, which surprisingly, made the programme less funnier than it would be without canned laughter. Imagine a large bin fire and then someone sets that bin fire on fire. Disastrous. British people have a great sense of humour and are funny but this programme doesn’t and isn’t. If it were funny the audience would laugh at the right points and we wouldn’t need canned laughter, but adding in canned laughter at the end of every line, all the non funny lines make this programme cringey, embarrassing. The script isn’t funny, none of it is. Americans may need a pointer at when to laugh but us Brits don’t. Avoid it and forget it. Did I mention bin fire? See more Y K @Yousefq80 2d Even worse that US version, which is not funny since the 80s. I thought Brits are geniuses in comedy. Horrible. See more p N @binley_beng69 3d the only thing worse than unfunny comedy is hearing other people laughing uproariously at unfunny comedy. I feel bad for the performers because you couldn't say no to this gig but the material is so dire. This show made me sad :( See more Read all reviews
