See more Boppy B @Loppy Jan 19 The funniest thing about most criticism is ITS SUPPOSED TO BE CONFUSING AND ALL OVER THE PLACE AS THE SCRIPT IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN WRITTEN BY A MANIC PERSON. The film follows 2 perspectives at the same time along with his family and friends perspectives and there’s a lot of jumping back and forth, they make some really beautiful connections about obsession they keep cranking up the red connection until the 23 connection gets really intense , the cosnstant mentioning of 23 can get old to some people but that’s the point it repeats your also supposed to think about what 32 means the whole numerology thing is quite interesting but the plot REALLY shines in the later half of the movie this is my second time watching it and my gfs first and she was glued to it. Also the history of obsession is interesting as it shows mental issues can genetically run in your family. Very interesting movie and surprisingly accurate when it comes to extreme mania See more Thom N @RT68992806 Nov 28 The difference between the audience and the critic score tells you what you need to know here; this film was quite negatively reviewed by a bunch of Variety.com, New Balance-wearing, IPA-drinking, Josh Groban superfans who think they're a professional critic because they accidentally saw Oppenheimer instead of the Barbie movie. Putting the opinions of alleged critics aside (as we always should), I'll start by mentioning that this is my first time seeing this in many years, and my first time seeing it as an adult. The script gets really uncanny and alien in some places, and the rest of the film never fully catches up with the arthouse-adjacent cinematography, but that doesn't keep this from being a compelling tale of spiraling monomania; an uncredited support from TV veteran Bud Cort somehow didn't make its way into my memory, and I thought to myself, "Doesn't that look like Bud Cort??" - it had been enough years since my last viewing that many aspects of the film likewise had escaped by recollection; while its' central obsession gets a little crunchy and over-done by the second half, the copious THC levels kept me on the edge of my seat. My sober friend Austin gave it high praise as well, and if you've ever wished to see the blonde thug from the beginning of 1996's "The Big Lebowski" (a few years before his larger role in 'Capote') carry a serious b-plot in a $30 million psychological thriller from New Line, you're in luck! Extra points for a 20-second cameo by Paul Butcher, aka the little brother from Nickelodeon's 'Zoey 101'. I'd give this one a 17 out of 23, even if my watching did have a lot of irony behind it. The paid critics who give mediocre remakes of Disney movies a 99% while giving this a 7% is laughable to be honest.. it's like they just watched the first 20 min and disregarded the whole story and the ending, which made the movie overall worth watching for sure.
